This page is simply meant for "information" and not necessarily for "endorsement." Blue text means a hyperlink to a website. I don't get paid for any"clicks."
I'll keep updating the page with more information.
One of my absolute favorite theorist-practitioners is Peter Levine, Ph.D.. Here is a video from NICABM on two “simple” practices that can help you and others feel safe, contained, and regulated.
Here is a great article (only 6 pages) by Stephen Porges on Neuroception (the neurological pathways by which we determine safety, danger, or life threat); also a good basic introduction to polyvagal theory.
Here’s a helpful infographic from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine (NICABM) on “How a Caregiver's Trauma can Impact a Child's Development.”
Rick Hanson, Ph.D., is a psychologist and practicing Buddhist. He's one of my favorite presenters. Here's the link to his Amazon page. Pick a book (wink).
He has a very generous website and I've taken most of his courses, which expand on and applies the research he presents in his books.
He has a podcast with his son, Forest, call BEING WELL. A few of my favorite episodes:
He has a lot of videos of various lengths and different topics on his YOUTUBE channel.
He has three different types of newsletters, but my favorite WISE BRAIN BULLETIN.
National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine
I've done a lot of training with them. These are the "trauma people." Their online courses are "academic, but accessible." It's a great website for discovering researchers and they have really helpful infographics.
A few helpful INFOGRAPHICS
They regularly post post different experts on their BLOG; here are a few sample posts:
Trauma-Informed World: Dr. Louise Hansen
Dr. Arielle Schwartz: Yoga Therapy and Polyvagal Theory
The Embody Lab: great place for continuing education and certificate programs.
Beacon House: A long list on their resource page.
I often get asked what the music I have on in the background as I'm meditating or practicing restorative yoga. The answer is almost always "Bija" by Todd Norian from the album by the same name. You can find his music on Apple Music (I like a lot of his work) and here is his website.
